Since 2015, we have been hosting the annual competition for kitsch-painters world wide.
This is a contest that has been won by great painters such as Sebastian Salvo, Mark Belicario, Li Dong, Scott Breton, Marjan Bakhtiarikish and Shaun Roberts.

 

How to enter

To enter the contest you need to e-mail us your submission to comp@worldwidekitsch.com. Please put “Competition” in the email’s subject and provide us details about your work, such as a title and image dimensions, as well as your name.

Those who reach the final round will be awarded a membership at worldwidekitsch.com.

Entries are accepted 14th through 31st October 2022.

 

Requirements:
  • You can ONLY submit 1 (one) painting.
  • It cannot have been submitted to a previous edition of the WWK Competition.
  • It should be a classical painting or otherwise be made according to the values of kitsch.
  • We only accept high quality reproductions

 

Voting on facebook

The finalists, selected by the jury, are presented in a contest open to public voting on our facebohok page 5th November. You can vote by reacting. Voting ends November 15th at 8pm (CEST).

Three prizes will be awarded respectively to the top three paintings selected by the jury. The main prize will be awarded to the jury selection that receives the most votes by the public on facebook. Second and third place will follow accordingly.

Awards

3rd prize: a $100 gift certificate from Kremer Pigments.

2nd prize: a $200 gift certificate from Kremer Pigments.

1st prize: a $350 gift certificate from Vasari Oil Colors.

All three will receive a copy of Kitsch More Than Art (2011) by Odd Nerdrum et al. and a diploma, signed by one of the members of the jury.

 

The Jury


The Jury and their self-portraits: Shaun Roberts (left) is an American painter from Texas. He received the 1st prize in the WWK Competition in 2021. Sebastian Salvo (middle) is a Chilean painter working in Norway. He won the WWK Competition in 2015. Jan-Ove Tuv (right) is a Norwegian painter, known as the prince of kitsch.
